10 Months Old and Counting...
I can't believe it's September already. The girls are 10 months old now. Before very long, I'll be planning their FIRST BIRTHDAY! It just doesn't seem possible.
We took to the girls to California over Labor Day weekend to see Eric's grandmother, mother and sister. They had never seen Kayley and Kristyn, so it was very nice to be able to take them out there. While we were visiting, Eric's aunt Gail came to see us, along with Richard and Mark. Gail had a great time with a very cranky Kayley (picture below).
The girls are doing very well. Kayley is trying to cut a third tooth. Teething is much harder on her than it is on her sister. We have been working on standing and holding on, although she is still figuring out how to crawl. She gets up on all fours, rocks for a minute, then flops back on to the floor with an exasperated gasp. She's gets very frustrated and wants so much to be mobile. Soon. I think it will be a short transition from crawling to walking. She's getting used to holding a sippy cup and makes a funny face when I give her Cheerios to munch on. Like Kristyn, her hair is getting longer and is starting to get quite a curl on the top and sides.
Kristyn is also doing well. Her first tooth came in last week and I think a second one is coming in very soon. We thought she was having some seizures, but now it looks like one of her reflux medications caused a seizure-type reaction. All of her tests came back normal, so we have stopped the offending medicine and haven't had any more problems. Her reflux is well controlled with her meds and she is really coming out in terms of her personality. She has a devious little smile that looks just like her Grandpa Chuck and Uncle Chris. Her appetite has increased and her growth is finally starting to pick up (although she does not like Cheerios). She is working very hard on sitting up. She does very well with very little support. She also rolls back to front and back again, although she does not like being on her stomach. She's starting to jump in her jumperoo and that will help her gain enough strength in her legs to stand. We'll be working on that very soon. Her physical therapy is going very well and helping her a lot.
We had a play date recently with another baby girl that had heart surgery the same day Kristyn did. We met her family in the waiting room of the hospital. It was a lot of fun watching the three girls play together.
